Dayan Qigong (Wild Goose Qigong)
Wild goose qigong is very popular exercise for health in China. It is taoist system (infleuenced also by budhistic phylosophy) from one of the holy mountain in China Kunlun Shan mountain. It is almost 1800 years old system. Dayan qigong is a whole systém, containing small and longer formes. The base of the systém is two forms: First 64 (qian liou shi si) and second 64 (hou liu shi si). First form is mainly focused on postnatal problems after our birth. The second one is mainly about prenatal problems transmitted from generation to generation.
Forms of Wild goose qigong contains not only exercise in motion but also many static exercises called Zhan Zhuang which can represent for example a tree (roots like legs, body like a bole.) This exercise has an important role in martial arts like Tai Chi (Tai Ji) or Bagua Zhang. Apart from longer or short forms like Pai Da Gong, Shen gong, Dayan qigong contains meditations in a sitting or lying position. Movements are slow or dynamic, like a shaking, rotating, circle walking (very similar to mud stepping in Bagua Zhang) gathering or relieving energy, pathing or stimulating pathways and acupoints along meridians.
Movements follow the theory of traditional Chinese medicine. Forms aim on 108 acupoints and expand to the four sides. In Chinese medicine every side or a time period is connected to the organ. Dayan qigong tries to improve body constitution. For example in a lower dantian (equivalent of a Indian chakra) we mainly work with reproductive and digestive system, in the middle we psychologically we develop emotions and interactions, biologically we works with respiration, qi and blood circulation. In a upper dantian, sometimes called third or sky eye we works with our spirit (shen), wisdom and intuition.
Wild goose qigong can be combined with Pilates , Yoga, martial arts, Chinese medicine (Chinese (Tuina) or Japanese (Shiatsu) massages, cupping, acupuncture..) Exercise is suitable for everyone no matter what age. Lessons are designed that everybody can follow. Every lesson we again repeat and improve movements. My teacher in China is master 28 lineage holder Wang Tai Li direct disciple of grandmaster Yang Mei Jun, who lived till age 104
